Generic lybrel, original lybrel are oral contraceptive pills taken by women to control birth and control pregnancy occurrence, they should not be used for other reasons unless a certified doctors instruct you for this.
Also you should know that lybrel are for birth control and not as a protection from sexually transmitted diseases. Some people think that taking contraceptive pills protect from venereal diseases, HIV or AIDS but this is not true. To guarantee safe use of the pills, you have to tell your doctor about the following:
Before starting lybrel administration:
- If you are diabetic as lybrel can change you insulin sensitivity and this may cause changing the dose of your diabetes medication.
- If you have allergy for any of the drug composing materials, you must tell your doctor as this may prevent you from taking such medication.
- If you are already pregnant then it is not convenient for you to take such a medication.
- If you are breast feeding and although the residual of the drug in breast milk are very small and of no value but it is advised not to take lybrel during breast feeding, after weaning the child you may take lybrel.
- If you have any history of blood clotting or even if one of your family members have blood clotting, it is essential to tell your doctor about the case history. Oral contraceptive pills are known to increase blood clotting so if you already have the tendency for blood clotting then you should make sure of the drug’s safety through lab tests.
During the administration of lybrel or generic lybrel:
- If you have any lumpy regions in your breast then you should report directly to your doctor.
- If you have any tenderness in the breast or if you have any side effect that do not fade out with the time.
- If you have bleeding or just spotting for more than seven days, you should report to your doctor.
- If you are on any other medication you must discuss it with your doctor.
- If you are diabetic patient then you should monitor your blood sugar level on regular intervals and keep an eye on the results.
- If you are going to undergo a surgical operation or dental care, you should tell you doctor first.
- If you are going to under go lap tests, you should tell your doctor as lybrel may enterfere with the lab results.
- If you have a bleeding that did not stop after 7 days, do not stop the pills but you should report to your doctor.
- If you experienced vomiting during the first four hours after the administration of the pill, you should deal with it as a missed dose.
- In case of missed dose, take the missed dose then take the following dose in the usual drug.
