Doing this will maintain an effective and practical way of pregnancy prevention.

The only thing that you need to take care of is that even if lybrel can protect you from pregnancy but, it cannot protect you against venereal diseases, HIV or AIDS. The transmission of such diseases is not connected with the hormonal method of pregnancy prevention. If you are not sure of your partner disease history or you suspect that he/ she is infected with such diseases then you may want to use a condom to maintain protection.

Lybrel and all the oral hormonal contraceptive pills have the same side effects. Blood clotting is known to be the most important side effect although the percent of incidence is very small. Other side effects are headache, nausea, vomiting and weight gain. These side effects are easily bearable especially with the high level of protection presented by such medication. The intensity of side effects differs from one person to another.

  • Maintain taking the pills on constant basis
  • Set a distinct time to take the pill every day. It means that you should take a pill every 24 hours, try not to extend or shorten this period.
  • If you missed a single pill then do not panic, you can take it during the following 24 hours without changing the date of the following pill. In other words, if you usually take the pill at noon, then by midnight you remember that you did not take the pill. In this case you should take the pill instantly and the next pill stays at noon a usual.
  • In case of forgetting only one pill, you do not need to consult a doctor. All what you need is to maintain caution during the following 7 days when you have sexual intercourse.

For example, all oral contraceptives are contra indicated with smoking as it increases the incidence of heart attacks and heart complications. Smoking should be stopped or at least kept to the minimum level when you are on lybrel or generic lybrel products.

Also oral hormonal contraceptives are known to increase the blood clotting rates so you should consult your doctor if you or your family members had a history of serious blood clots.

Dizziness is one of the common side effects of lybrel and generic lybrel products; the level of dizziness is boosted when you take lybrel with alcohol or liquors. If you started taking lybrel recently then you should take care when you are driving or operating a machine till you know if you get dizzy when you take this medication or not.

Some people prefer to take the medicine in the early morning in order not to forget it but some times taking a medicine on empty stomach causes nausea and vomiting. If you get this bad feeling then start taking the pill after or during breakfast.

Some people have allergy from one or more ingredients of the drug, these people may develop skin reaction like rashes and hives when they are taking lybrel or any other oral contraceptive pills.

What should I do if I missed a dose or more?

Lybrel and generic lybrel products and all the other micro hormonal pills share one principal which is the regular administration of minute amounts of hormones to maintain prevention of pregnancy occurrence. Due to this principal and due to the other fact of the short half life of the hormones in this drug, you should take care not to miss any doses and maintain a usual time to take the pill every day.

If you missed a single dose then you should take it instantly even if you remembered this forgotten dose while you are taking the following one. After you take the missed dose then you should continue taking the following dose as usual (in the same time that you are used to take the pill).
